What Is The Adoption Dossier?

What is an Adoption Dossier?

Different countries will have different “dossier requirements”.  The simplest way to put it is to say that these are the supporting documents to your home study.  So for example, the social worker will run background checks.  They’ll give you a medical form that you’ll take to your doctor.  These background checks and the medical form will become a part of your dossier.   Different countries have different requirements for each of these forms.  Once you begin the adoption process through a specific country and a specific agency, it is that agency’s job to guide you through the home study process and help you put together your dossier consistent with the foreign country’s requirements.

If you are adopting through a Hague Country, the dossier documents will require a certification called an Apostille
