Dossier Insturctions for Poland | Read Me First

General “Thumbs Up Guide” to what is what and why

Make sure to use your LEGAL name on all adoption related documents. No nicknames or middle names. Names should be as they appear on your passport.

You will need to have 2 original sets of the Dossier.  So, almost every document, you will do in 2 sets, except FBI and Medicals.

You need to collect all documents before you send them to us.  Don’t send us document one by one. Keep everything together.

Go ahead and order 4 certified copies of your birth certificates and your marriage certificate (if currently married).  You’ll need 4 of each for the entire adotpion.  As you advance through the process, you’ll see how they will be distributed.  So 4 Birth certificats for the adotpive mom, 4 birth certificates for the adotpive dad and 4 marriage certifcates.  Order these from your state/county.  They’re referred to as “certified originals”.

You’re pususing the paperwork at your own pace.  We’re here to help you, so ask us questions.

“Why?”

All of the documents will have to be certified by getting a certification that is called an Apostille.

An Apostille is a form of authentication issued to documents for use in countries that participate in the 1961 Hague Convention.  Poland, Bulgaria and the US are such a countries.  To read about the Hague Convention and how it applies to adoption, click here.

“How?”

The Majority of documents will be sent to your “home state” for Apostille.

In some of the videos you’ll see below, when I say “Home State”, I mean your current state of residence.

I have color coded things to make it easier on you.
