Central Authority Letter

How To Get a Letter from the Germany CA?

In some cases, USCIS may request a letter from the adoptive family that says that the country they’re currently residing in has no part in the adoption.

US Dept of State site has listed the Germany CA contact info as such:

Germany’s Adoption Authority
Bundesamt für Justiz

Bundeszentralstelle für Auslandsadoption
Adenauerallee 99-103
53113 Bonn
Tel: +49 22899 410-5414 or -5415
Fax: +49 22899 410-5402
Email: auslandsadoption@bfj.bund.de
Internet: www.bundesjustizamt.de/auslandsadoption

Please try to get a response from them in writing, in an email, or on paper, that says that since you are not citizens of their country, and are only residing there temporarily.  Therefore, their laws are not applicable towards your adoption.  Please have them confirm that you would be adopting as US Citizens, under US laws, and that  their Central Authority plays no role in this adoption.

In one of our cases, this is how England responded:

“The prospective adopters,….., are not habitually resident in England and this is to be an intercountry adoption between the US and a third country, this would be a matter of the US authorities, and the Central Authority for England would have no role in this matter”.
